The game finally launched globally in English through Game Forge on November 14, 2019. The game cost over 78 million to develop according to an interview with Blueside's CEO Lee Sang-youn. The game will be launching first in China then slowly release elsewhere. It was originally slated to launch in 2016, but has been delayed. A permanent, IP-locked open beta began in Asia on May 22, 2014, promising no character wipes. Unfortunately, the game saw many delays throughout its development, and its release date was pushed back multiple times. The game resurfaced again in 2013, when it was going to be released in Korea that year. In March 2010, the game was rumored to be in development hell, as developer Blueside was in financial trouble. The game was announced in January 2008 as a "Multiplayer Online Action RTS" that featured a story mode and a persistent MMO world, and was to be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Kingdom Under Fire 2 is co-developed by Blueside and Phantagram, both originally involved in the development of the other Kingdom Under Fire games.

In the video, Hee-seung plays on PlayStation 3 while his colleague plays on PC. Not only will the PlayStation 3 version support PlayStation Network-specific servers, but it is also being developed to allow cross-platform play with the PC version. Moreover, weare also planning various additional services to make use of PSN functions that over 60 million accounts are connected to. However, due to the nature of the platform, the PlayStation 3 version will support a UI optimized for gamepad controlling, and with original content only for PlayStation 3 which wont offset the balance in the game.
